Chesterton Tribune, Friday, 12 June, 1903
The Indiana Air Line railroad company is now talking of running a spur from Lake Michigan striking the lake at the present site of the fishing shanty, and running to Chesterton. Its line runs on the old Lake Shore bed about two miles north of town. It will be operated by electricity. It looks now as though there would be no question of its being built this year. It is supposed to run between Toledo and Chicago, and its trains will run at the rate of seventy to eighty miles an hour. One good thing about this line is that it will have no surface crossings. Its tracks will run over or under all wagon roads. All railroads should be compelled to do this.
